Signs of the City - Metropolis Speaking

Employing digital photography and new media, the youth art project Signs of the City – Metropolis Speaking has explored the sign systems of Barcelona, Berlin, London and Sofia. Young people guided and accompanied by professional artists investigated the signs of their cities and thus document their urban life.

CITIPIX is the interface between the four cities and the approximately 300 young photographers, who participated through a total of 35 workshops. It is an online image database, which gathers all images that has been produced in the workshops, and thus turns into a contemporary archive, which is freely accessible and can be playfully interacted with.

You can search and regroup the digital images by using the ‘play’-search-engine; you can enlarge individual images and even create your personal ‘stripes’. These are ‘image bars’, which you can put together by choosing your favourite 5 photographs from the pool and which can then be saved.

Das Jugendkunstprojekt Signs of the City – Metropolis Speaking erforschte die Zeichensysteme in Barcelona, Berlin, London und Sofia mit den Mitteln der digitalen Fotografie. Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene, von professionellen Künstlern angeleitet und begleitet, erkundeten ihre Städte und dokumentierten dabei zugleich ihr urbanes Leben.

CITIPIX ist die mediale Schnittstelle zwischen den vier Städten und den rund 300 jugendlichen Fotografen in den insgesamt 35 Workshops. Hier wurden die Fotografien in einer Bilderdatenbank erfasst und zu einem zeitgenössisches Archiv geformt, das für jedermann verfügbar und spielerisch nutzbar ist.

Die Digitalbilder lassen sich mit Hilfe der 'play' -Suchmaschine neu gruppieren, sie können in der Großansicht genauer betrachtet werden und man kann 'stripes' erstellen. Ein 'stripe' ist eine Reihe von fünf Bildern, die man sich aus allen in der Datenbank vorhandenen Bildern frei zusammenstellen kann.

Mitjançant l'ús de la fotografia digital i els nous mitjans, Signs of the City – Metropolis Speaking investiga els signes i símbols de Barcelona, Berlín, Londres i Sofia. Joves fotògrafs treballen amb artistes professionals per explorar els signes de les seves ciutats i així documentar la seva vida urbana.

CITIPIX és la interfície entre les quatre ciutats i els aproximadament 300 fotògrafs joves, que participen en un total de 30 tallers. És una base de dades visual que recull totes les imatges produïdes en els tallers i esdevé un arxiu contemporani de lliure accés i d’ús interactiu.
Pots explorar i agrupar les imatges digitals fent servir el cercador ‘jugar’, pots ampliar imatges individuals i crear la teva col•lecció personal d’imatges amb un stripe. Un stripe és una tira de 5 imatges que pots agrupar per guardar-les després.

CITIPIX encara està en construcció i oferirà durant els propers mesos noves aplicacions tant per als fotògrafs participants com per als visitants del web.

Mediante el uso de la fotografía digital y los nuevos medios, Signs of the City - Metropolis Speaking investiga los signos y símbolos de Barcelona, Berlín, Londres y Sofía. Jóvenes fotógrafos trabajan con artistas profesionales para explorar los signos de sus ciudades y documentar así su vida urbana.

CITIPIX es la interfaz entre las cuatro ciudades y los aproximadamente 300 fotógrafos jóvenes, que participan en un total de 35 talleres. Es una base de datos visual que recoge todas las imágenes producidas en los talleres y conforma un archivo contemporáneo de libre acceso y uso interactivo.

Дигиталните фотографии могат �? помощта на функци�?та “игра“ да �?е групират по нов начин, увеличени - могат да �?е разгледат по- добре, възможно е да �?е �?ъздават �?ерии от �?нимки. Става въпро�? за редове �? по 5 �?нимки, които поред�?тав�?т �?амо�?то�?телен формат на обединени фотографии.

През �?ледващите ме�?еци CITIPIX ще предложи и нови възможно�?ти за използване, които ще �?а на разположение както на по�?етителите така и на фотографите.
